FRIED OKRA + FRIED GREEN TOMATOES AND SALSA

Nothing beats the southern treat of fried green tomatoes and fried okra. We paired this recipe with a fresh salsa for a bright punch of flavor — but you can also enjoy these fried delights with your favorite dip like chipotle mayo or ranch dressing.

INGREDIENTS
New South green tomatoes
New South okra
New South cornmeal, seasoned as you like it
Your pan-frying oil of choice (we recommend coconut!)

FOR THE SALSA
New South cherry tomatoes
New South peppers
Onion
Cilantro
Lime juice (or lemon works too)

STEPS — PAN FRIED GREEN TOMATOES & OKRA
Slice your green tomatoes into rounds, and slice your okra into bite-sized pieces
Fill a plate with half an inch of cornmeal, plus a pinch of salt and pepper (or whatever seasonings you like best)
Place your tomatoes and okra in the cornmeal mixture, flipping them to coat evenly on all sides
Turn on your skillet to medium-high heat and add your cooking oil of choice
Place the tomatoes and okra in the skillet
Cook until cornmeal coating is medium-brown on each side, then flip with a spatula (about 2-3 minutes each side)
Remove from heat, set to cool on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, enjoy!

STEPS — SALSA
Dice tomatoes, onion and peppers
Chop cilantro
Combine in bowl and squeeze juice of 2 limes on top
Add salt and enjoy!
